Every SEAL school picks its own entrance test and its own test date. This page collects what each school states on its own website, and says plainly where we could not find it stated.
If your child has a place at a Victorian government secondary school and you want them in its SEAL class, they sit an entrance test. Which test depends entirely on the school: some use EduTest, some use ACER's HAST, and for others we could not find it named at all. There is no central list, because the Department of Education stopped accrediting SEAL schools in 2014 and the SEAL Academy register that replaced it does not currently publish one.
So this page is assembled school by school. Every entry below was read from that school's own website, and the school's name links to the page it came from. Where a school does not name its test, this page says so rather than guessing - schools change providers between years, and a wrong answer here would send a family to practise for the wrong exam.
All four sit the same centralised exam, run by ACER. Students sit it in Year 8 for Year 9 entry, and one application covers every school.
Every SEAL school chooses its own entrance test and its own test date, and a school can change either between years. Of the 34 schools below, 19 name their test on their own website; the rest do not, and the only reliable way to find out is to ask the school. Each name links to the page the answer was read from.
Runs its select-entry stream as the ACE Program (Accelerated Curriculum and Enrichment) rather than under the SEAL name.
Formerly Wonthaggi Secondary College; listed as Bass Coast College in the Department's school register.
Runs its select-entry stream as GAPP, the Gifted Academic Potential Program.
Multi-campus; the Department's register lists Cairnlea as the administrative campus.
The centralised exam for Victoria's four selective entry high schools, sat in Year 8 for Year 9 entry.
Practise this test →Five timed sections: Verbal Reasoning, Numerical Reasoning, Reading Comprehension, Mathematics and Written Expression.
Practise this test →ACER's Higher Ability Selection Test: Reading Comprehension, Mathematical Reasoning, Abstract Reasoning and Written Expression.
MockyTest does not generate Abstract Reasoning, which is a figural pattern section.
The school names ACER as the test provider without saying which of its tests. ACER's SEAL test is usually HAST, but ask the school before preparing for a specific format.
The school's website did not name its entrance test when this page was compiled. Ask the school directly — and if you find it stated, tell us and we will add it.
